Aubrey is cursed. Literally. One spell gone awry in high school--back in her friends' magic-dabbling days--landed her with the most embarassing love life ever. No matter what kind of romantic relationship she embarks on, everything ends up being terribly awkward--and not just in a ran-into-my-ex-looking-like-a-mess-in-the-grocery-store way. Aubrey's dates go so badly, that sometimes her would-be partners end up in the emergency room with...intimate injuries.

Despite the disasters, Aubrey wants to break the curse and still dates as much as possible. She eventually befriends one bad date's sister, Lex, who doesn't totally believe that Aubrey is cursed. Being logical, Lex works in data and spreadsheets and offers to observe Aubrey's dates, collecting information to prove Aubrey's awkwardness is mostly in her head and something that can be easily overcome. Eventually they come to the conclusion that the more Aubrey likes a date, the more likely she is to sabotage the evening--or, the more likely the curse is to kick in. So all Aubrey needs to do is stay calm and laugh through any embarassing situations.

Lex herself isn't super lucky in love--as a single mom, she has other priorities in her life. But dissecting Aubrey's love life has them wondering if it's time to open up to love again. Lex agrees to a supportive double date to closely observe Aubrey in action. The date was Aubrey's idea, but there's definitely a tinge of jealousy in the air...on Aubrey's part.

It's not long before Lex and Aubrey realize they should be together instead--but with Aubrey's tough romantic history, will the curse sabotage her one shot at true love?
