The year is 2001. Newly-divorced Allie has arranged her perfect dream-date with Randall Rivard for her twentieth high school reunion. She doesn't expect it to lead to much, but she knows she will have a lovely evening with her best friends in the world if she can just ignore some of their good intentions as well as the snide opinions of old adversaries. Meanwhile, her old senior prom date Sam is no longer among the living. But he has been tasked by the Powers That Be with helping Allie land the love of her life, even though it takes special circumstances for anyone at the reunion to see or hear him.
