It was an innocent childhood pact—if we’re not married by thirty-four, we marry each other. Made back when we were inseparable, and our thirties seemed old.   

That was until life—and my harsh words—tore us apart.   

Maisey wanted to see the world. I chose our sleepy hometown over her. Something I regret every day.   

Now she's back.
